"Dokdo in Old Maps: Intriguing, but Clear at Last"

More crappy Korean map analysis by some writer named Choi Yearn-hong can be found in an August 5, Korean Times article HERE.

Apparently, the guy thinks the 1770 map of Korea pictured on the left makes everything "clear at last."

Really? An map that shows Usando (于山島 - 우산도) as the largest island in the Sea of Japan makes it "clear at last"?

See HERE for a larger version of the map from an 1882 text.

  1. Maybe you should not focus too much on the "Usando" name as it is not 100% clear that the name belongs to "Jukdo". There is only one map showing a "Ulleungdo/Usanguk" label and that doesn`t prove anything either.

  2. Usando/Dokdo is pretty much far away from Ulleungdo. Looks like more than 2,2 km.

  3. You`re getting emotional. What is crappy about the analysis?

Many of your HERE mentioned points are corrected. First: Dokdo/Usando lies South East of Ulleungdo. Second: The distance is clearly greater than 2.2 km.
