Mr. Tsukamoto explained the recent result of the ICJ case of Pedra Branca_Pulau Batu Puteh, Middle Rocks and South Ledge between Singapore and Malaysia, and concluded that the critical date of the dispute would be 1953, the year when Korea set Lee line which included Takeshima/Dokdo within their territory and Japan, on the other hand set official claim against Korea. - June 24 - "A lecture meeting for the territorial issue was held in Matsue" - 産経新聞 (Sankei Shimbun) cache (Korean article)
The lecture meeting for Takeshima, which South Korea is continuing the illegal occupancy was held in the Matsue city on the 24th. A writer Sato Masaru (佐藤優), a MOFA official who is taking prosecution leave, talked with the assembly member of the House of Representatives, Suzuki Muneo(鈴木宗男) who works on Northern Territories issue. They declaimed "It is same situation as Japanese humane rights and the national authority of Japan were violated, just like the abduction issue. If this situation cannot be recovered, Japan doesn't take the form of the nation. Rep. Suzuki said that he is going to take this issue seriously just like Northern Territory issue as possible he can.
Thanks Kaneganese,
ReplyDeleteI didn't know Suzuki Muneo, who had been once expelled from the Diet due to a political scandal, said that.
By the way, he was famous for his appearance - he rerembled a comedian called "stupid Sakata (Aho no Sakata)"... I hope his remarks would be serious apart from his stuopid appearance.
Thank you for that news update, Kaneganese.
ReplyDeletepacifist,
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Rep. Suzuki recently started to mention about Takeshima to get an attention from people since this is not a issue which other representatives normally take seriously. Read Kyodo news above. It was actually Suzuki who asked vice-Ministry about textbook. I'm not sure if he is really serious about the issue or not, but I think it is our responsibility to make representatives work hard for us and National interests. We need to urge him to keep promise and do something more serious as possible as we can. ( He sure looks アホの坂田. I like him a lot.)
Hi Gerry,
I hope you understand what I wrote. If you don't, please let me know.
Kaneganese, if Suzuki working for "national interests" he'd tell the government to drop their silly claim for Takeshima. The bonehead who declared Takeshima Day set back national relations between Korea and Japan at least a decade. It has also created a rift between Japan's national government and the prefecture itself. Bad politics.

Suzuki makes a lot of questions about foreign policy in the House of Representatives. Takeshima is one of them. I hope he's going to do more than questions or lectures. On the other hand, MOFA is doing fairly good job recently.

Professor Shimojo is simply a lobbyist for Shimane Prefecture you shouldn't trust any of his data.
ReplyDeleteultra-nationalistic dokdo-takeshima.com,
ReplyDeleteProf. Shimojo can be much more trusted than you for sure not to mention your country Korea as a whole. :-)
New flash Raquel. I'm not Korean.
ReplyDeleteYou e-mailed be about a week ago saying you are an American student from Cincinnati. Which school do you go to? Which program are you in and who is your teacher?
Please don't run away and hide. It might reveal the fact you are a fake. Remember, Cincinnati is a small town. It's easy to check on student rosters....
Everyone here anxiously awaits your reply "Raquel"
