Dong-A Ilbo Archive Database

I have added a link to the Archive Database of the Dong-A Ilbo, which allows searches of the newspaper's articles that go back to 1920. To download a PDF file of the article, you have to register with the site and then pay 500 won for each download.

  1. Hi. Look what I found: http://books.google.com/books?id=xXIYAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA90&dq=take-shima&lr=&as_brr=1&ei=VessSd3gMIvwMtmx4bQF#PPA90,M1

German footnote says something about how an island is called Usan Isle by Koreans and called Take-shima by the Japanese

  2. Thomas,

Learn more ! Think hard! Use your own brain, and do not blindly believe what others say. Copying and Pasting others comments simply make you look stupid.

What did you think after reading the book or "footnote"? Don't you think it's odd that Usando was called Takeshima? I think if it was true, it could be the evidence that Japanese called Jukdo as Takeshima. I'd like to know more about it.

FYI, today's Takeshima had been called as Matsushima by Japanese until the end of Edo era. After the Meiji restoration, it was called "Ryanko-to", or Liancourt Rocks. The island was newly re-named as Takeshima in 1905. This is the basic knowledge you need to know.
