.A special exhibition on Nakai Yozaburo (中井養三郞) is being held at the Oki Island Cultural Center (隱岐島文化會館) from June 13 to June 28. Mr. Nakai was the man who petitioned the Japanese government in September 1904 to formally incorporate Liancourt Rocks (Takeshima / Dokdo). You can read his petition HERE.

It is a must-see one. I went to the exhibition in Matsue and it was extremely well-organized, well presented and informative. I would highly recommend all of the Takeshima lovers (and haters, too) go Oki islands to see it. Oki islands have beautiful nature, good food and Sake(酒), plenty of marine leisure. Best place for Summer Vacation. Don't forget to bring your kids with you.
ReplyDeleteHere is the cover page of the pamphlet and the list of the items of the exhibition. I don't know if all of them are going to be exhibitied or not, though. I was specially allowed to photograph them. Though I can't show them openly, but if there is any photos you are interested in and I took the photos, I can show you. So let me know.

Kaneganese, these are interesting lists. I'm especially interested in the advertisement of Nakai (1904)- did you take a photo of it?
ReplyDeletepacifist,
ReplyDeleteYes. I've uploaded it here.
The explanation says...(I cut it out from the photo.)
Nakai Yozaburo's advertisement
Oki Shinpo(隠岐新報) 1st edition
January, 1904
The advertisement of new year's celebration by Nakai Yozaburo.
It shows that Nakai was running a Dive machine/ diving fishing business in 1904(明治37年). And it also proves that he was noted person in Oki.
btw is it ture or not?
