Korea to Build Underwater Park on "Dokdo" to Counter Japanese Claims

According to an article in the Korean newspaper Dong-a Ilbo entitled "Breakwater, underwater park to be built on Dokdo islets," Korea plans to spend about $346 million to build an underwater park on "Dokdo" (Liancourt Rocks - Takeshima) to counter Japan's claim to the the rocky islets. Korea is upset that Japan listed "Takeshima" (Dokdo) as Japanese territory in middle school textbooks and in a "Diplomatic Blue Paper."

Here is my question: "How does building an $346 million underwater park counter Japan's historical claims to "Dokdo"?

  1. Answer : A

While Koreans look at the beautiful scenery in that underwater park, they will be able to forget the fact that Takeshima is a territory of Japan, temporarily.

  3. Do you really believe that Dokdo is Japanese territory?

It seems that there are some Japanese who disagree with you.
Even the Tokyo Teachers' Union has problems with the Japanese ultra-right wing elements trying to brainwash Japanese school children into believing that Dokdo is Japanese territory.
(It's a sign of how unreasonable the Japanese claims to Dokdo are.)
I highly esteem those brave Japanese who think objectively about these issues and acknowledge the truth.

I find it absolutely unbelievable that the right-wing elements are constantly falsifying history in Japanese school textbooks and trying to influence young minds into believing in untruths. It is evil.
    Have they no fear?

  5. Chaamiey,

I don't care what the Tokyo Teachers' Union homepage says right now.
The Japanese right-wingers will probably do their utmost to silence the teachers who don't want to go along with their ultra-nationalist agenda regarding Dokdo.

What matters is that there are good, intelligent Japanese who will courageously stand up for the truth, even if it means angering some of their own countrymen.

  6. jk6411,

You can approach neither truth of Takeshima issue nor the feelings of Japanese people about it by watching only news of Korea.
