Should Japanese Boycott Ulleungdo?

I have put up a new survey on the right-hand side of the blog that asks the following question:

Should Japanese boycott travel to the Korean island of Ulleungdo to protest South Korea's barring of Japanese lawmakers to the island?

( ) Yes
( ) No
( ) I don't know.blockquote>

  1. seriously, if you are going to make a freaking blog about this, you better mention both sides, not only to one side. clearly you are on jpn's side, and you tell us to be speaking in civil manner and discuss? What kidna freaking fight gives one side a machine gun and the other side nothing but right to defend themselves?

  2. also in korean stance, people in korea are mad about japan for 2 reasons. Japan when they invaded in 1910s along with china, they used similar tactic in taking over control. They started to illegally bring armoured ships into seas of china and korea, and korean and chinese army retaliated, and japanese took over with armed forces. Secondly, unlike Germany where they actually know that the war they created is wrong and apolosizing to neighboring countries, look at japan? They decided to rather say they were helping asian countries in their history books rather than saying what is right. They also are respecting the war criminals in their temples. Clearly Japanese government wants their 'glorious japanese empire' back.

  3. I have looked at Korea's historical claims to Dokdo, and they are all fabricated. If you read through the postings on this site, you will see where they were proven wrong.

"Dokdo" does not appear on any old Korean map by any name.

  5. Unfortunately, Korea is the country unable to return to their history by their own language. All of history books are written in old Chinese which Koean do not read or understand. Korean history book means 100% translation and interpretation. Most of Koreans do not understand if the contents are correct or incorrect. This it the start of history fabrication. If Korean really would like to appeal the contents of old history books you have to know the facts of the books. Also, in Korea level of disclosure regarging the contents of old history books are strictly limited by media, education, political control by the goverment. This is the one another point all of the Koreans are not able to find out the truth of their history. Their appeal is very much one sided by hitory fabrication and limited sourses. The perception about Germany is totally incorrect. Germany compensated only for massacre of Jewish personally. Germany had many massacre not only for Jewish but also Polish, 1 millions were killed, and Russian, 5 milions, and others. Germany has never pay any compensation to the countries they had war or inveded. Germany refuses to pay any compensation by which German says everything have compensated by the assets many German left. There is a proof of this, Germany has never concluded peace treaty with any countries they had war or inveded.
I would like to suggest you to read "Korea and her Neighbors" by Isabella Bird Bishop whitten in 1906. You will find a real story about Korea about 100 years ago.

  7. hahahahah. Ignorant Japanese has done it again. It is definitely Korean land. There are only very few countries that think its Japanese land, Japan, and think its neither side's possession, like couple of countries, but most know the true fact, that is a land of Korea.

  8. Unknown,

Who is ignorant? According to Donga Ilbo, only 1.5 out of 100 world maps say Dokdo is Korean territory. Once you step out of Korea, the world sees you guys ignorant.

"1.5 pct. of world maps say Dokdo is Korean territory

    AUGUST 10, 2011 06:09

Just 1.5 out of every 100 world maps in textbooks, regular books and Web pages around the globe describe the Dokdo islets as Korean territory, said a report released on Tuesday.

Ruling Grand National Party Rep. Kim Ho-yeon, a member of the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs, trade and unification, received the report from the Foreign Affairs and Trade Ministry. The report said that among 3,380 maps of the world, just 49 say Dokdo is part of Korea.

The Foreign Ministry has conducted five biannual surveys of major maps produced by countries on the naming and description of sovereignty over the islets from 2008 to last year’s latter half.

This is the first time for the ministry to announce the results of surveys on the matter through many civic organizations, such as the cyber diplomatic corps VANK, released probe results on the naming of Dokdo.

Most countries are aware of Korea and Japan locking horns over the islets` sovereignty, according to the ministry survey. The majority of the surveyed maps (3,135 or 92.7 percent) did not specify to whom the islet belong, and 93 maps or 2.8 percent called it disputed territory.

The number of maps describing the islets as Japan’s was 47, a bit lower than that of maps calling it Korean territory (49)."
